If you’re trying to do something new with your hair, summer is the time to do it. You have no responsibilities and no one to impress in the classroom. The trend on and off campus is color, and lots of it. I’ve seen girls rocking streaks, dyed tips, and a bunch of other crazy styles.
Dyed tips look really cute and carefree. You can do them yourself or get them done professionally. If you do it yourself, you need bleach, and four colors, a light shade and a dark shade of two different colors. If you want your hair to look like the one illustrated in the photo, use dark blue and purple and light blue and purple. First, bleach the area that you want to dye. Then, take small sections and dye over the bleached sections with the light colors. After that, go over about half of the light sections with the dark colors. It will probably start out really bright, especially if you have light hair, but rest assured that it will fade over time.
If you want something a little more “subtle”, such as Katy Perry’s hair, you can just do streaks throughout. Use the exact same technique described above, but bleach entire strips instead of the tips and color the whole thing. If you don’t want something as permanent, a bunch of places have temporary hair clips that they can place in your hair. I’m rocking one of those right now and absolutely love it. It looks rebellious and cool, but I can take it out whenever I decide that pink hair is no longer my thing.
If color isn’t really your style, you can try ombre as the girl in the photo on left. This is really easy to mess up, so it might be better to enlist the help of a professional. The intended look is a gradient from darker at the roots to lighter at the end. If you do this at home, all you need is hair dye that is a shade darker than your own. Apply it from your roots to about half way down the hair. Then dilute the dye with water and apply it to the rest of the hair.
