So, a few weekends ago I was with my friend, an RA, while she was on duty in Collins. We traversed the halls that were filled with girls making coolers, or already made coolers. It was here: the mass beach weekend had arrived. I saw coolers from nearly every fraternity in the halls of the dorm. They were done to perfection, each decorated with the fraternity letters, a picture that was unique to the guy, and general beach weekend fraty-ness.

Wow, girls, those coolers must have taken a ton of time. I give the coolers I saw a standing ovation. The effort put into them was probably more than you put in to any assignment this whole semester. I bet your parents would love hear that you worked for weeks on your cooler, but you started that eight page paper twelve hours before it was due. You girls must be so proud, and your faces are priceless when the paint comes off, because your date stuffed it into a packed trunk. The cooler takes a beating, and all that hard work? Gone! Piece of advice: take a picture before your date gets his hands on it. You know how frat guys can be. And let’s be honest for a minute: the party is great, but the cooler is what makes or breaks our weekend. The hours you girls put in to your coolers show great dedicated to the beach weekend cause. I hope it was worth it…it usually is for us.
