It’s nearly summer so that means two things collegiettes — a full day at your internship AND bathing suit season. Unfortunately, sitting at a desk all day doesn’t exactly help you stay in shape, so it’s up to you to eat healthy at your temporary 9 to 5 so that you can feel confident on the beach and by the pool during your precious weekends!
For the summer (and really, for all year round) I’ve come up with two breakfast foods that will keep you energized for your long days and keep you healthy.
I’m absolutely loving CalNaturale Svelte, a delicious line of all-natural protein shakes. They taste great, come in four delicious flavors (My favorite is French Vanilla, but they also have Chocolate, Cappuccino and Spiced Chai), and provide sustained energy. I thought they’d make a great meal replacement for breakfast on your way to your internship this summer (because I’m sure you are used to skipping/sleeping through breakfast at school).
Better yet for so many of you suffering from food allergies — these are dairy, lactose and gluten free. And they come in an eco-friendly packaging perfect for all the girls going green out there.
If meal replacement shakes aren’t for you, a great, healthy and filling meal to pack for your internship and to keep you going strong until lunch is a homemade parfait.
I love layering vanilla yogurt, blueberries and sliced strawberries with granola — but unfortunately granola isn’t as healthy as I’d like it to be so I started substituting granola for Kashi GOLEAN Cereal (I’m pretty obsessed with Crisp! Cinnamon Crumble) in my parfait. It’s actually tastier and a bit lighter.
So take the stairs this summer to your office, walk that ten blocks when you have time instead of taking the subway, and eat a healthy breakfast. You’ll feel great, do amazing at your internship, and look better than ever!
