Calling all fashion junkies and moguls: September has arrived. Assuming you’ve already collected an array of September issues you’ve worshipped like a religion, you fashionistas can’t forget about the most exciting part about fall: New York Fashion Week! Style enthusiasts everywhere are flocking to the Mecca of fashion week, also known as New York City. Sadly, most of us USF students aren’t able to attend those exclusive events, however, there are some pretty rocking events coming up that will attempt to celebrate and to recreate the fashion Mecca we all know we were born to experience one day.

Fashion’s Night Out at International Plaza and Bay Street

First on the little black book will be Fashion’s Night Out at International Plaza and Bay Street on September 6th. My sister and I got to experience the style-filled event last year and it’s not to miss! Get to experience the latest trends in fashion shows at Dillard’s, get dolled up (like we know you love to) for some flashy red carpet photos and even get to channel your classical side with live performances by some of the musicians from the Florida Orchestra.

Aside from us fashionistas loving sample sales, be prepared for some sweet deals you won’t be able to pass up on. All of your favorite stores like Aldo, Banana Republic, BCBGMAXAZRIA, Free People, H&M, Juicy Couture, Sanrio, Sephora and several more will be offering promotions off purchases. If you’re one of the lucky ones, you might even be able to snag some of that free champagne and wine that will be floating around. Last year, Betsey Johnson (tear, as the store is no longer at International Plaza) featured the cutest display of Betsey pieces and cupcakes everywhere! It’s safe to say my sister and I were in fashion Cloud 9.

Revolution: 1960’s Art/Music/Fashion Party

The great thing about fashion is that there will always be a taste of something for everyone. Be sure to check out Revolution: 1960’s Art/Music/Fashion Party – “one of the largest collaborative vintage shows” at the 600 Block in downtown Saint Petersburg on September 8th! “Groovy costume contests and out-of-this-world art” will transcend you back in time for a night from 8:00 p.m. to 12:00 a.m. The icing on the cake is that the fashion show portion will feature designs from some of my favorite vintage shops like MISRED Outfitters and ARTpool Gallery!

This psychedelic party will have you channeling your inner Brigitte Bardot or Twiggy. I can’t think of a better excuse to pull out that cat-eye liner, color-block dress and flower headband. With a student ID tickets are $10 in advance (only available if bought at ARTpool Gallery) or $15 at the door. The general public can reserve tickets in advance here for $15 or $20 at the door. Try not to be fashionably late because you’ll want to see every bit of flower power there is.

You don’t have to be in New York City after all to celebrate NYFW! Go throw on your best fashion feel good look and make Anna Wintour proud.
