What do you plan to do after graduation? If you don’t already know, it is really hard to figure out!
Should I get a job right away? Should I go to grad school? And, if I do, will I be too “over-qualified” to get a job? But, if I don’t go to grad school, will I be “under-qualified?” Honestly, it all depends on what you want to do.
You’re young. This is the time for you to explore your options. Thinking about going to grad school? Go ahead. Don’t know yet? Wait a while. Want to travel? Why not do it?
First of all, upload your resume to BeeCareers through the Career Center at St. Ambrose. Here’s a link to the website:

They have a lot of resources to help you search for jobs, internships, and other information for job searching.
Here’s another piece of advice: USE YOUR RESOURCES. The Career Center is there to help you, as well as your resident advisors, hall directors, professors and advisors. All of your professors and advisors have been exactly where you have been, even if they knew exactly what they wanted to do after graduation and you may not. They know of great graduate programs that will be a fit for what you’re looking for.
Want to travel or work abroad somewhere? Go to the SAU International Studies office and see what they have to offer or information they might be able to give you about working abroad. If they don’t know, they know – or will find out for you – who to go see.
There are a lot of opportunities out there, but if you don’t use all your resources, you may miss out! Don’t let that happen to you!
Here are some job search engines you can use to either find a job, or see what’s out there and consider your options for what interests you (from About.com, by Wendy Boswell):
• monster.com (narrow your search by location)
• indeed.com (find jobs you wouldn’t find other places)
• USA.gov (want a government job?)
• careerbuilder.com (post a resume and search for jobs)
• dice.com (technology jobs)
• SimplyHired (rate jobs you’re interested in and research salaries)
Good luck and don’t forget about mock Interviews and to really research the schools or businesses you want to look into! This will be good for both your interview process and for you to decide whether or not you want to be a part of a certain team.
