For quite some time, we at Her Campus Princeton have featured our favorite brands and our newest obsessions in a column called Made for a Collegiette. We feature brands, products, and current obsessions that we think are not only perfect for us but perfect for all Princeton collegiettes. Let us know about what you think in the comment box below!
You’ve noticed–I mean, how could you not notice?–that Her Campus Princeton has become absolutely enamored with all things eco-fashion. This obsession was sparked by our most recent collaborations with the Sustainable Fashion Initiative; now our interest in eco-fashion has trascended moved past HCP-SFI joint activities and has culminated in our upcoming (get excited collegiettes!) eco-fashion photoshoot. In preparation for the shoot, we researched eco-fashion and sustainablity practices before finding the perfect sponsors for the photoshoot such as 100% NY.
Before I launch into my fan-girl ramblngs about how 100% NY designs with the fashion forward and eco-concious woman in mind, I want to share what Daniel Silverstein and Marge Bacon (the FIT duo) say about their brand–“100% is one hundred percent committed to creating extraordinary garments for today’s fashion forward woman; a woman who not only wants to look good but wants to feel good about the clothes she’s wearing. 100% designs do this. Our unique fabric draping technique creates sleek and modern designs while reducing the amount of fabric waste produced. At 100%, we are cutting edge, not cutting fabric.”
100% NY features clothing that shatter the persistent albeit inaccurate stereotypes regarding eco-fashion. Daniel and Marge have designed clothing that is at the highlest level of chic whilst eradicating waste in the production process. As they say: 100% NY is 100% chic and 0% waste.
100%NY uses organic, recycled, and ethical materials (sustainable fabrics) and production is conducted entirely in Brooklyn. How cool is that?
On to the fashion! 100% NY is certainly cutting edge. The pieces in their Spring 2012 and Fall 2012 collections feature a unique draping technique that result in breathtaking clothing. Don’t take my word on it.
These looks are from the Spring 2012 collection. How great are these colors?
Below are my favorite pieces from the Fall 2012 collection. As a whole, the collection is fashion-forward, daring, form-flattering, and extremely urban.
What do you think the Princeton colors dress. Perfect for gameday?
Is our love affair with 100% NY warranted? Let us know in the comment box below.
