Bring on the droves of alumni, parents, siblings and Hokie football fans alike. It’s the 2012 homecoming season, so don’t miss out on all the events Tech has planned. This year’s homecoming events begin Monday, October 8 leading up to the homecoming football game on Saturday, October 13.
Monday, October 8
The Homecoming Board will be sponsoring Hypnotist Jim Wand in the Commonwealth Ballroom of Squires Student Center at 7 p.m. Usually, the homecoming candidates get up on stage to be hypnotized so it’s sure to be entertaining! Admission is free!
Tuesday, October 9
Hoodie Allen and Kendrick Lamar are coming to Tech! Both up-and-coming hip hop artists, with special guest and VT student DJ Rhetorik, will perform for students and the community in Burruss Auditorium at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $15 for students and $20 for the public. Thursday, October 11
The Blacks Student Alliance will be sponsoring Comedian Kevin Hart at 7:30 p.m. in Burruss Auditorium. Hart has made appearances on TV shows such as Modern Family
and Workoholics and movies such as Think Like a Man, Along Came Polly, and Soul Plane. Tickets for the performance went on sale September 12 and are currently sold out.
Friday, October 12
The Student Alumni Association will be sponsoring the Spirit Rally on the lawn of the Graduate Life Center at 7:00 p.m. to get everyone excited for the game. After you stop by the spirit rally, make your way to the Dr. Zenobia L. Hikes Memorial Step Show, hosted by the National Pan-Hellenic Council, in the Commonwealth Ballroom in Squires Student Center also at 7:00 p.m. The step show is only $5 for Greeks and $7 for the public. But the party doesn’t stop there; NPHC will also be sponsoring the After Party with DJ Mike E at 10:00 p.m. in the Old Dominion Ballroom in Squires Student. Center. Admission for the After Party is $5.
Saturday, October 13
All the events have been leading up to this day! The annual Homecoming parade featuring homecoming candidates, organizations, clubs and more will start at South Main and Eheart Street and end at the Pylons on Alumni Mall. The start of the parade will be determined once the game time is announced. Following the parade, the Virginia Tech Hokies will take on Duke in Lane Stadium where the Homecoming King and Queen will be announced at halftime.
