Sure, Halloween may be “the one night a year when a girl can dress like a total sl*t and no other girls can say anything about it,” (Thank you, Mean Girls) but it’s also the one night a year when you can get together with your girl friends and coordinate a really awesome group costume. Halloween on Franklin Street is one of the most fun nights of the year, so why not spend it with a group of your best friends? Here are some HC-approved ideas for amazing group costumes to wear this year!

Bridesmaids

Bridesmaids was definitely one of our favorite movies from last year. Kristen Wiig and the rest of the girl power cast were absolutely hilarious, so why not channel these female comedians for you and your friends’ Halloween costumes? Go out shopping with your best girl friends and find a bright pink dress—the more ridiculous, the better—for all but one of you, who can wear a white gown like the blushing bride, Lillian. Add some curly bridal updos and heels and let the (fake) catfights begin!

The Clef Hangers

The Clefs are one of the best a cappella groups in the country and a Carolina favorite. They’re adorable and talented, and their signature outfits just happen to make for a perfect Halloween costume! Have you and your friends don khaki pants, quirky bowties and their signature vests covered with buttons. For bonus costume points, practice a simple song with your friends like “Carolina in my Mind” to serenade Franklin Street-goers with.

The Plastics

Is there anyone who isn’t completely obsessed with Mean Girls? Enter Girl World this Halloween by dressing up as the movie characters we most love to hate: The Plastics. Either don as much pink as you can possibly find (Halloween is on a Wednesday this year, after all, and “on Wednesdays, we wear pink!”) or go for the Halloween costumes the girls wore in the movie: Gretchen wore leather to be a cat, Regina was a Playboy bunny, Cady was terrifying as a zombie bride, and Karen was a mouse, duh.

Toddlers & Tiaras

Sure, zombies and witches are scary Halloween costumes, but do you know what will really terrify everyone on Franklin this year? Four-year-old pageant queens. Have your friends wear sparkly crowns and the most ridiculous prom dresses you can find at a thrift store or your closet back home. Put on more bright makeup than should ever be put on a child and practice waving like a lady (or as ladylike as a two-year-old can be). Be sure to carry around pacifiers or teddy bears, and for even more hilarity, have one of your friends dress up as a crazy pageant mom.

Disney Princesses

If you and your friends want to wear classic and pretty costumes this year, Disney princesses are the way to go. Have each of you pick your favorite character to dress up as, and don’t forget to include fiery-haired Merida from Brave!

Can’t wait to see you all on Franklin Street, collegiettes! What are you planning on wearing this Halloween? Let us know in the comments below!
