Halloween in college is not like the Halloween’s of our youth. Ladies sometimes have three different costumes for Thursday, Friday, and Saturday night. We don’t dress up all day anymore. My RA freshman year told me that costumes are acceptable when the sun sets, but I think everyone should just do what they want. We also don’t get to go door-to-door asking for candy, which is a real shame because college students love free food. To make sure you have enough sugar and a room to celebrate in, here are 6 crafts and recipes for a great Halloween!
1) Witche’s Brooms
This “recipe” for Witch’s Brooms includes no baking and two ingredients. Just buy some mini-Reese’s and pretzel sticks. You’ll have a sweet treat to share with your friends while you get your costumes on!
2) Creepy Ice Cubes
Keep friends away from your drink by adding something creepy to your glass. Kirsty Colquhoun put plastic halloween skeletons in ice cubes. You could use plastic spiders or bats or if you’re not into creepy crawlers, find some mini plastic pumpkins!
3) DIY Sparkly Pumpkins
Want to decorate your room with pumpkins, but don’t want the mess of cleaning out and carving one? Try something new this year by adding sparkle! You’ll need glitter, glue, a paint brush and pumpkins!
4) Candy Apples With Character!
Nothing says “fall” quite like a bushel of apples and “Halloween” like jack-o-lanterns! Combine them to make these cute candy apples. Make a night out of it with friends and snack on them while you watch scary movies!
5) Funny Bone Treats
This recipe is straight from Disney, so it is time to embrace your inner child! All you need are some marshmallows, pretzels, and white chocolate to create small bones. The combination of salty and sweet will make your taste buds scream!
6) Sparkly Spiderwebs
Pull apart spider webs from Rite-Aid can be messy and hard to hang. These sparkly spider webs only require wax paper and glue! You can customize them for your dorm and use them on tables as a decorative table cloth!
