Costumes for Couples: Creative without the Cost

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at BU chapter.

Finding the perfect Halloween costume can be tough. What can be even harder, however, is getting your boyfriend, girlfriend, or best friend to agree on a costume with you. With Halloween just around the corner, here are just a few ideas to get your creative juices flowing.

(The best part? You can dress them up or down as much as you’d like).

A classic cartoon couple—There are dozens of popular cartoon couples that fall under this category. You can make most of them simply by using what’s in your closet. Just to name a few:
-Charlie Brown and Lucy
-Pop Eye and Olive Oyl
-Calvin & Hobbes

A goofy cartoon couple—If you’re a fun and carefree couple, you’ll need a fun and carefree costume! You can be a popular duo like:
-Mermaid Man & Barnacle Boy
-Doug and Patty Mayonnaise
-Fin and Princess Bubblegum
-Mario & Princess Peach

A popular movie couple—There are hundreds of movies to choose from, all the way from classic to contemporary. Dressing like a movie couple is also great if you’re on a tight budget; you can make a great costume using clothing you already own:
-Sandy and Danny from Grease
-Peeta and Katniss from The Hunger Games
-Peter Pan and Wendy
-Disney Prince-Princess couple

An iconic couple—If nothing else appeals to you, pick a costume anyone will recognize. Iconic couples include:
-Barbie and Ken
-Bonnie & Clyde
-Marilyn Monroe and JFK
-Lois Lane and Superman
-Mickey & Minnie Mouse
-Batman and Catwoman.

With these college-budget friendly costumes, you’ll definitely be the dynamic duo this Halloween. Happy Haunting!
