If I’m going to be upfront with you , I debated going to the Andy Grammer concert in the Roost Friday night. I knew that I liked the two of his songs that I heard on the radio, but the nasty weather dampened my spirits for a bit. I did remember, however, that I told my sister, (an OBSESSED fan) that I would see him for her. After putting on all the rain gear I found in my closet, a group of us walked through the pouring rain to Slayter.

In the end, I’m so glad that I made the decision to go see him sing. I was blown away by his performance. Everything from his stage presence, to the clarity of his live voice was spectacular. Even though he was standing on a little stage surrounded by a few hundred people, he seemed thrilled that we all came.

The Best:
His live voice! We all know the handful of pop singers that make us cringe when they sing live VMA performances, but I was pleasantly surprised with Andy Grammar. He added insane vibrato to his voice during every song, and his pitch was seemingly perfect.

He was super entertaining! Andy keep a constant conversation flowing between himself and the audience when he wasn’t singing. Not only would he throw in a few stories of his past, (comparing himself to John Mayer) but he would teach us hand gestures to different parts of his songs.

My favorite part of his performance was that he threw in a handful of AWESOME covers of some great tunes, including “Stereo Hearts” and “Sunday Morning” by “Maroon 5,” “We Found Love,” “Chasing Cars,” and my personal favorite song of all time, Coldplay’s “Fix You.” I recently googled these on youtube, and all of his covers are online. Definitely check them out.

After this fabulous little concert, I am an Andy Grammer superfan. He is absolutely wonderful. If you’re interested in hearing more of his music, definitely check some of his top hits, “Fine by me,” “Miss Me, “ and “You Should Know Better.”
