Despite the warm front we have been having, we are about a month into the glorious season called fall! Although it sometimes still feels like summer, the trees shout gorgeous autumn day. As we put away our sundresses and sandals and transition to our fall wardrobe, we notice that we all have a particular fall essential that we can’t live with out. Here are just a few of this year’s most noteworthy items. Also, notice how these items can all blend together to make one killer outfit!
A leather jacket:
Real leather or fake leather, this is a go to for every collegiate. It looks fall appropriate and it keeps us warm at night. On a recent Saturday evening, the boys I was with constantly mentioned how every single girl in the room sported a leather jacket. Coincidence? I think not. This is the most important jacket of the season and can be dressed up with a killer dress and heels or down with jeans and a cute scarf. The leather jacket is the epitome of essential fall pieces.
Riding Boots/UGGs:
What is fall without boots? Freshman journalism major Jamie Weissman loves her boots because “they’re
an easy way to dress up jeans and go with everything.” This year riding boots are bigger than ever, and as much as we wish UGG boots would go out of style, what else do we have to keep our feet warm as we walk to 8 am classes. And if you don’t like the classic UGG boot look, UGG has updated itself with some sophisticated leather riding boots with fur inside. I find this to be the best of both worlds.
Chambray Button Downs:
This is the reinvention of the flannel or the button down. They are so comfy and have a classic look to them! Stores like Madewell are famous for these shirts but Target offers a broad (and lower priced) selection too!
Colored Denim:
Perfect to compliment with the Chambray top. Since chambray is typically light blue, and many are still not too fond of denim or denim (awesome or risky?) pair it with an awesome pair of colored jeans in this season’s it color “Oxblood” or in some jewel tones. Bright red, green, and purple, are also a perfect choice.
Scarves:
Scarves are colorful and versatile. They automatically take a blah outfit to a ta-dah outfit! Plus, they keep you warm. Sophomore chemical engineering major Amanda Fernandez loves wearing scarves because it adds color to a simple white sweater. “It makes my outfit look put together,” she said.
