It’s that time of year. We’re in the middle of fall, the crisp air and colored leaves putting a smile on many faces. Yet with Halloween just ending and Thanksgiving approaching, it seems our minds are only focused on one thing: the upcoming holiday season. We all love decorations, cheer, lots of food, snow, and presents, so it’s no surprise that the early onset holiday excitement can’t be contained. It’s only early November, yet everywhere I go, there seems to be something holiday related in my face. Here’s a list of ten signs that the holiday season is upon us:
- When Starbucks breaks out those beautiful, fabulous red holiday cups. Nothing starts a good morning better than holiday themed cups, gingerbread lattes, and peppermint mochas.
- When “#pumpkinobsessed” is now replaced by “#peppermintobsessed” as a trend on twitter.
- When Santa is at the mall…. Really? November just started…
- When you walk into Macy’s and see those big red ball decorations- and then realize they already started stocking the shelves with chocolate gift sets.
- When it’s already snowing…. Shout out to my hometown, Long Island!
- When you already feel a hole burning in your empty, college kid wallet, just wondering how you’re going to afford buying gifts.
- You open your door and there’s a girl on your floor humming Christmas music because… (See number 8)
- … CHRISTMAS MUSIC IS OFFICIALLY ON THE RADIO.
- The Christmas tree and ice-skating rink is officially set up downtown.
- The black Friday deals are already swarming the Internet. There is such a thing as Thanksgiving, people!
Whether you enjoy the early holiday excitement, or think it takes away from holidays like Thanksgiving, it’s hard to avoid it. It’s so fun to prepare for Christmas, but just embrace the time you have and don’t rush it, or you’ll miss out on some quality November time with family and friends.
