I am completely obsessed with Pinterest and a few weeks ago I was poking around and came across this DIY. I love Pinterest DIYs and since Thanksgiving is practically here I thought it would be a great idea to make these little turkeys for Thanksgiving placeholders. These Oreo cookie turkeys can make their debut at your Thanksgiving celebration if you just follow these easy steps.
Ingredients:
Double Stuff Oreo Cookies
Candy Corn
Whoppers
Mini Peanutbutter Cups
Chocolate Frosting
Yellow Frosting
Red Frosting
Black Sprinkles (for the eyes)
After you have gone to the store and bought all of the necessary ingredients start by lying out all of your supplies and making an assembly line to help make things run smoothly.
The first step is to take an Oreo cookie and add a bit of frosting in the crack on one side. Then stuff in the candy corns. I used 5 candy corns for this step.
Next put a dab of frosting on the opposite end of the cookie and secure it to the base of another cookie. It helps to lean them against something to make sure that as they dry they stay put.
Next unwrap the mini peanut butter cups and using a sharp knife cut a sliver off one end. Once they are cut, place a dab of frosting on the peanut butter cup and place the cookie like so:
Next take a whopper and put frosting on one side and place it above the peanut butter cup. This will be the turkey’s head.
While they are setting, cut off the white tip of a candy corn for the beak and use a dab of frosting to secure it to the whopper.
Next put two yellow dots of frosting for the eyes on the whopper and use a black sprinkle for the eye.
Once the candies have set, flip the turkey right side up and draw on fee using the yellow frosting, and add a gobble below the beak using red frosting.
Once you have added these final details you are done! These turkeys make really cute placeholders for your Thanksgiving table-scape if place toothpicks in the top and attach nametags to the toothpicks.
