You know that guy in class that you’ve been staring at? The one with the really cute smile? Don’t pretend like you don’t know who I’m talking about because it’s the one you’re thinking about right now! You’ve been eyeing him since the first day of class and you’ve seen him all around campus…but you are also probably afraid to even say a word to him.
Having a crush definitely has its pros and cons and letting your crush slip through your fingers is definitely a con. So, let’s focus on how to approach your crush without letting him figure out that you know his entire schedule and his favorite shirt.
1. Ask to see his notes: Dozing off in class is common and missing out on notes comes along with that. Hopefully your crush has been paying attention. If not, still ask if you can copy his notes; if he says he didn’t copy them down, strike a conversation about how dreadfully boring that class is!
2. Ask for an extra writing utensil: Just make sure that you purposely forget all of yours in your room so you aren’t tempted to chicken out and reach into your bag.
3. Share interests: You possibly know many of the things he likes, so why not use that to approach him? Talk about a band and current movies that may interest him.
4. Be confident and smile: Confidence can catch anyone’s attention, especially that of your crush. If you ever make eye contact with him, smile! I’m not talking about that evil smirk but a genuine smile!
5. Just smile and say Hi: When all else fails, this may just be the key. While you’re both waiting for your class to start, introduce yourself and then talk about how interesting or boring the class is!
6. Ask to sit with him at lunch or dinner: If you see him sitting alone around lunch or dinner, when it’s busier and many tables are taken, you’ll have a better reason to ask if you can sit with him. A conversation can go smooth when you have food to break the awkward pauses.
7. Exchange contacts: If that conversation you had went well, don’t be afraid to ask for his email (after all, you just want to “exchange notes”)!
If it turns out your crush isn’t as single as you thought, don’t let it bring you down! At least you were brave enough to talk to him and let him know that you exist!
