It’s not even the first of December, and mulled wine is already everywhere. Whether you buy the spices and mull your own, or buy the ready-mixed kind from Tesco or Sainsbury’s, mulled wine is bound to get you in the holiday spirit.

If you’ve never had mulled wine before, I urge you to try it as soon as possible. It is a great alternative to tea when relaxing with friends. It warms you up on cold nights, or even cold afternoons. As the sun starts setting earlier and earlier, I will be craving mulled wine more often.

To me, mulled wine is symbolic of winter as a whole, and not just Christmas. It always brings back memories of my first taste, at an outdoor cafe in Germany during reading week last year. I was convinced that since I don’t like red wine, I wouldn’t like mulled wine. How wrong I was. Suprisingly, adding a few spices and an orange and heating it up makes red wine delicious. Too bad it’s only acceptable during the winter months.

Have some mulled wine today! I promise it will take the edge off of exam stress and get you ready for the holiday season to come.
