So maybe Kate Middleton is actually a duchess, but her fairytale just got even better. Since the announcement of Will and Kate’s engagement, there has been speculation about when a little royal bundle would arrive. The poor woman couldn’t even eat a cheeseburger without someone calling out, “Baby bump!” But the official announcement has come straight from Buckingham Palace. The princess is pregnant.

According to the New York Daily News, the Duchess of Cambridge was taken to the hospital yesterday morning suffering from severe morning sickness called Hyperemesis Gravidarum. Knowing the news would quickly be leaked, the royal family officially announced Will and Kate are expecting. Since she is just in the beginning of her pregnancy, reportedly between six and 12 weeks, she will stay in the hospital for a few days to keep her hydrated and monitor her condition, but she should be back to normal soon.

The Duke and Duchess have been in the spotlight since their 2011 wedding broadcast worldwide and many have anxiously awaited the announcement of a royal heir. While William is second in line to be king after his father Prince Charles, the rules have been changed in the last year to allow their firstborn to take the throne, either boy or girl. The Daily Mail reported on the bill when it was announced this last May, overturning the law in place since 1688 allowing only the firstborn son to rule. Let’s hear it for the girls!

The world is likely to hold their breath until the stork makes a royal delivery, but Kate is sure to be as fashionable as ever in the coming months. As if we couldn’t be any more obsessed with them already, congratulations to the Duke and Duchess!
