Most of us think you need to sacrifice warmth in order to look cute this winter, but that’s not necessarily true. Getting cute winter wear will make the snow and sub-zero temperatures easier to bear and might actually make you want to go outside. You won’t dread walking to your 8 a.m. class as much if you are excited to put on your new gear. I’ll show you where to find your winter essentials without compromising your style.

The most important item of clothing for the winter is obviously a coat. Before you invest in a winter coat you need to make sure that you love it enough to actually enjoy putting it on everyday, and that it is warm enough. I suggest getting a parka because they are warm and fashionable. Parkas can range anywhere from $100-$600. Just about every department store has a wide selection. For a real steal, I would check Saks Fifth Avenue, Off Fifth or Last Call by Neiman Marcus.

The second most important article of clothing is a pair of winter boots. Make sure your boots are waterproof, otherwise a step in the snow will freeze your toes, and you can say good-bye to the leather. There are many options for winter boots, but one of my favorites are Sorel boots; they come in almost very color, and you can choose between short and tall. The best part is they are made specifically for the snow, so you will stay warm, and they stay looking new. Plus, Sorel boots are the latest craze in Hollywood.

The next step for dressing cute this winter is a hat or headband. You lose a lot of body heat through your head, so by covering it, you will stay much warmer. UGG has a new line of headbands and hats for the winter. If you love the boots, then you will definitely love their new hat wear; the sheepskin is even more comfortable on your head than on your feet!
