Meet Francesca Gibson as known as Frankie, a art education major here at Montclair State. Francesca is a sophomore and has played women’s soccer for MSU since her freshman year. This collegiettes loves being a red hawk and enjoys being apart of the soccer team here! When she is not on campus, you can find Francesca kicking the soccer ball around with her friends in her hometown, Cape May, New Jersey.

HCM: Would you say your talent is natural or was it taught?

FG: I would say that my talent is both natural and taught, because I was basically born on a soccer field since my mom has played soccer all her life, and I have been playing ever since I could walk, so being taught by my mother and by my coaches has really influenced my talent today.

HCM: What school do you relish in kicking butt the most?

FG: My team and I would both have to agree with wanting to show Rowan up since we never got a chance too in the 2011 season.

HCM: What athlete inspires you the most?

FG: Mia Hamm has definitely inspired me the most because she has always been my idol with all the accomplishments she has made in her prime since I was a little girl.

HCM: How do you balance schoolwork, a social life and play soccer?

FG: Balancing all those things in college is pretty tough, but my social life basically revolves around my teammates because we are all very close and love being around each other. School work is definitely the hardest to balance because of the amount of work and time you put into soccer it seems like you barely have time for anything else, but if you sacrifice some of your free time for school work it could be very easy.

HCM: Other then soccer, what is another school activity you would participate in if soccer weren’t available?

FG: If soccer were not available at school I would definitely want to play volleyball because that is the only sport that I have actually played and enjoyed.

HCM: If you could play against any other athlete dead or alive who would you choose?

FG: I would definitely want to play against Messi because he is the greatest soccer player in the world.
