NowthisNews, a startup news network producing video news clips for millennials, teamed with Yahoo! News to discover GW students’ definition of truth.

Inside a giant, inflatable TRTUH Booth, students had 45 seconds to express their feelings on the state of our nation, democracy, Washington, and the world by completing the sentence, “The truth is…”

“It’s so simple that it’s sort of brilliant,” said Matthew Drake, senior producer at NowthisNews.

Miriam Smallman, a freshman at GWU, felt her experience in the booth was unique.

“It was a little difficult being put on the spot, but the privacy of the experience inside the booth surprised me,” she said.

The TRUTH Booth has travelled all over the country across college campuses to hear the unadulterated truth of students throughout the presidential campaigns.

Two weeks have passed since President Obama stood outside the Capital and addressed the nation with his second inaugural speech. He spoke to the themes of unity and progress referencing the country’s “never-ending journey.” Obama’s tour has begun as he has already faced controversies with the debt ceiling and health care.

“Now that the dust has settled from the campaign and our president is being inaugurated, I think it is time to roll up our sleeves and get down to business, to really find out what the truth is,” Smallman said.
