With her ever-present smile and endearing sense of humor, this week’s Campus Celebrity is easily one of the friendliest people I have yet to meet here at College of Charleston. Â In addition to her bubbly personality, she is one third of an athletic family dynasty for the Lady Cougars. Her sister Caroline (’12) graduated last spring after a phenomenal tennis career with C of C, and fellow tennis star sister Christin (’13) is currently a senior on the court. This Honors College sophomore graduated from high school a semester early to join the Women’s Soccer team and hasn’t looked back since, becoming a dynamic defender for the Cougars. Â I caught up with her to discuss Charleston, soccer, and her goals as an athlete. Â

ÂTell us a little bit about how and why you chose C of C:
ÂWhat was the process like to join the C of C team?Overall, it was very stressful but that is just because soccer recruiting in general is very stressful. After my commitment to CofC my junior year of high school, everything went very smoothly in regards to joining the team. ÂÂMost memorable game you’ve played with the Cougars? My first game last spring against NC State is probably the most memorable just because it was just so new and exciting to be playing on a college team. Â Plus, our team played extremely well so that made the experience even more enjoyable. ÂÂÂWho are your biggest inspirations as an athlete? There are plenty of professional athletes who are inspirational but my three older sisters are probably who inspire me the most. Â They all played college tennis at D1 schools and they are all very unique in their own ways on and off the court. Â All of them have this drive though that would inspire anyone. Â They never stop moving or pushing themselves. ÂÂWhen you’re not on the field or in class, what do you like to do for fun?I love to paint. Â I recently picked it up and paint at least one canvas a day. It is so relaxing and ends up serving as a much needed break from stress. Â ÂÂAny goals looking ahead to next season?Well, since we’re joining a new conference, I would love for us to win the conference tournament. Â Start off with a bang and show the CAA that we are a team to watch out for.ÂÂWhat are your plans for after college?
