Still not sure what to wear for Valentine’s Day? Do you prefer a more laidback look or do you dare to go for edgier styles? Are you a trendsetter or are you into classic pieces? Are you headed to a five star restaurant or hanging out at your favorite low-key spot? No matter how you define your personal style or where you’re going this Valentine’s Day, Her Campus has you covered. Below are outfits that fit into a variety of styles for casual or upscale dates. Check them out and leave your thoughts or outfit ideas in the comments!

Sweet Romance

Sweet Romance is for the girly, hopeless romantic. If you love all things feminine and frilly, Sweet Romance is for you. Below are outfit, hair and makeup breakdowns for casual and upscale dates.

Outfit 1: Casual

If you’re going on a casual date and find yourself aligned with the Sweet Romance style, start out with a floral chambray top. Add a girly high-low skirt in a corresponding color and a comfy boyfriend cardigan. Wooden wedges, a long leather bag and a simple necklace are the perfect finishing touches for the look. Use a sparkly champagne eyeshadow on your lids and a light brown color in the crease. Use a light-weight pink gloss to finish the look. Put your hair in a fishtail braid to show off your effortless beauty.

Outfit 2: Upscale

If you’re going on a fancier date this Valentine’s Day, choose a strapless cocktail dress, with a muted pink skirt and crisp white bust line. Champange pink heels and a corresponding, girly clutch will look perfect. Consider adding a mint green statement necklace and earrings to break up the monochromatic pink. Use light pinks, lavenders and champagnes on the eyes, a sweep of your favorite blush across the cheeks and a swipe of mascara.  A top knot is the best hairstyle for this look, so you can show off your pretty jewelry and makeup.

Living on the Edge

Living on the Edge is for the girl who is into daring, edgy styles. She’s got a taste for the dark and dramatic and isn’t afraid to try new things. Below are outfit, hair and makeup breakdowns for casual and upscale dates.

Outfit 1: Casual

If you’re going on a casual date and you like something with some edge, choose black skinny jeans and a sheer-sleeveless top with stud or rhinestone detailing on the collar. To add some color to the look, add bright blue wedges and carry a rock ‘ n ‘ roll inspired bag. Choose some chain-inspired bangles to finish the look. Use a flesh-toned eyeshadow on the lids and a dark brown in the crease. To liven up your eyes, use a bright blue cream liner. Finish with a nude-peach lip. Part your hair on the side and use a sea salt spray to get piece-y messy waves.

Outfit 2: Upscale

If you’re going on an upscale date, find a tight cocktail dress with stud or rhinestone detailing across the collar or on the shoulders. If that’s too much embellishment consider something made entirely of leather or with leather paneling. Choose a studded clutch and a couple different types of rings to stack on. Finish your look with nude or gold heels. A brown smokey eye and deep plum lip will make you look amazing. Put your hair up in a high bun to show off the detailing of the dress.

Bohemian Bliss

Bohemian Bliss is for anyone who’s into hippie-chic, romantic styles. If you fancy anything with intricate detailing or prints and flowy fabrics, Bohemian Bliss is perfect for you. Below are outfit, hair and makeup breakdowns for casual and upscale dates.

Outfit 1: Casual

Start your boho-inspired look with a simple brown tank and a printed, belted maxi skirt to show off your shape. Add a boyfriend cardigan, a fringed, leather bag and flat bejewled sandals to finish the look. Accessorize with dangly earrings and a turban-style headband. Use champagnes and dark purples on the eyes, a rusty red lip and brown cream liner. Leave your hair down in beachy waves.

Outfit 2: Upscale

For an upscale date, find a flowy cream-colored tank dress and cinch it at the waist with a thin belt. Add bright, detailed accesories and heels in a corresponding color. Go for an intricate box clutch to tie it all together. Use simple champagnes on the eyes and light pinks on the cheeks. Pull for hair half up and add braids of varying widths and pretty curls throughout to finish the look.

Passionate Prepster

If you love classic silhouettes and tailored fits, you’ll probably be into the Passionate Prepster style. Below are outfit, hair and makeup breakdowns for casual and upscale dates.

Outfit 1: Casual

Choose an a-line striped dress in a primary color. Add bright flats and simple jewlery with a low-key, leather messenger bag. Perfect your skin with your favoirte foundation (if you need it!) and add mascara and a bold red lip. Pull your hair up and away from your face in a straight, high pony.

Outfit 2: Upscale

If you’re going somewhere fancy, go for all black– the easiest way to look chic and effortless. Choose a simple figure-flattering dress or try a trendy peplum one like the one shown here. I love that this one has a red underside to it, mimicking Christian Louboutin heels. Keep your clutch and heels black and add (fake) pearl or diamond jewelry to accesorize. Create a classic eye using flesh-toned shadow with a little sparkle and a soft, grey cut crease to accentuate your eye shape (I find the best way to create this color is by mixing a little black and brown together!) Use your favorite foundation, a light pink lip and your favorite cheek stain. Put your hair in a low, classy chignon to finish off the look.

Sassy Sophisticate

If you’re the trendsetter among your friends and will try anything, you’re definitely a Sassy Sophisticate. Below are outfit, hair and makeup breakdowns for casual and upscale dates.

Outfit 1: Casual

If you’re a trendsetter, you probably already know that oxblood has been a very popular color this season. Start with skinny oxblood pants and a sheer black top with shoulder cutouts. A gold, bib statement necklace is perfect bold accessory for this look. Include sky high wedges (You can’t go wrong with Jeffery Campbell’s) and an animal print clutch. Stack on fun, gold rings to complete the look. Your makeup should consist of winged liner, a deep purple lip and a few swipes of mascara. Keep your hair down in sultry waves.

Outfit 2: Upscale

For an upscale, sophisticated look choose a bright, peplum top and draped, fitted pencil skirt. A color-blocked clutch, bright wedges and teardrop earrings with complete your look. A light smokey eye, pink lip and some highlighter on your cheekbones, cupid’s bow and the inner corners of your eyes will have you lighting up the room. Leave your hair straight and half up with lots of volume at the crown, to maintain your sophisticated look.
