One of the perks of living in such a big city is that musicians and bands from all over the country preform here. Obviously, Boston doesn’t have a lack of venues. From the TD Garden, to the House of Blues, to Brighton Music Hall, you’ll find artists as big as Lady Gaga and as indie as Vampire Weekend.
This semester Boston has already hosted a handful of don’t-miss concerts. So if you weren’t able to see Mumford & Sons or The Lumineers, have no fear! There are plenty of other upcoming concerts in Boston that are sure to be just as awesome.
Imagine Dragons
February 25 – House of Blues, Boston
This one is coming up soon so hopefully you already have tickets but if not, good luck getting them! Imagine Dragons, an indie-rock band, is most famous for their song “It’s Time.” The group will be at the House of Blues as a part of their first-ever headlining tour, the Night Visions Tour. Plus the House of Blues Boston is across the street from Fenway Park, it’s an awesome venue that has a great atmosphere so if there is any way you can catch this concert; you shouldn’t miss it!
Lady Gaga
February 27 — TD Garden
The concert is on a Wednesday, which is kind of a bummer, but it surely won’t stop die-hard Lady Gaga fans from seeing their “Mama Monster” on the big stage. Grab your wackiest outfit and brush up on all your Gaga lyrics because you won’t want to miss the crazy show Lady Gaga is bound to put on.
Rihanna
March 10 – TD Garden
This Grammy-award-winning superstar just released her seventh studio album, “Unapologetic.” Boston’s TD Garden is the second stop on her 2013 Diamonds Tour. You’ve had her “shine bright like a diamond” lyric stuck in your head since last semester so why not belt it out live with Riri herself?
Tristan Prettyman
March 15 – Brighton Music Hall, Allston
She was formally engaged to Jason Mraz but after a heartbreaking split, she’s back on the music scene and ready to take over. Prettyman’s latest album, “Cedar + Gold” was released last October and is full of amazing, meaningful songs. Some of her songs will make you want to cry (“I Was Gonna Marry You”) and some will make you want to jump up and dance (“My Oh My”). Don’t miss this singer-songwriter at Brighton Music Hall in March!
Watsky
April 1 –Paradise Rock Club, Boston
Show this Emerson-alum some love and go see him in Boston on April 1. Watsky is releasing a second studio album, “Cardboard Castles” on March 12 and will be touring all around the country in 2013 for his Cardboard Castles Tour. Maybe some of you were able to see him at the beginning of this school year when he performed during freshman orientation. If not, then you should definitely go see this rapper-poet at the Paradise Rock Club in April.
Muse
April 12 – TD Garden
Muse is coming all the way from England to tour North America this year. Muse has a very specific sound, the band is known for combining all kinds of music and putting on stellar performances. Their latest album, “The 2nd Law,” shocked critics and fans because it’s full of new sounds. Many say their new music sounds like dubstep but the band claims they didn’t use any electronics to create that effect. After seeing this band on Saturday Night Live and at the London 2012 Olympics’ closing ceremony, we think it would be pretty cool to see them in concert. The trio will preform at the TD Garden in early April. If you can’t see them in concert then look for their performance at the 2013 Brit Awards.
Vampire Weekend
May 15 – Agganis Arena, Boston
The last day of exams is May 2, but if you’re still in Boston on May 15 then do yourself a favor and hit up the Vampire Weekend concert at the Agganis Arena. This indie-rock band doesn’t perform live too often so you really won’t want to miss their 2013 tour. Vampire Weekend is known best for their upbeat song such as “Holiday” and “Cousins.” If you know you won’t be able to see their show in Boston then at least buy their upcoming album “Modern Vampires of the City,” which is being released on May 7, or, you know, go catch them in April at Coachella.
