As we all sit here indoors waiting for the weather to get warmer most of us have been lusting over spring and summer clothing and one of the more popular trends I’m ready to sport is the scalloped edging trend.

The scalloped edging trend is a super feminine and super cute detail that has been becoming popular.

The edging looks and the name scream summer to me. The name itself makes me dream of eating seared scallops on a hot summer’s day either in my backyard by the pool or just being on a boat in the middle of the ocean.

Actually, beyond my summery dreams, the name scallop actually comes from the French word escalope meaning “shell.” The fabric trim is similar to the rigged rim of a scallop shell.

The scalloped trend can be found on any type of clothing or accessory from blazers and bathing suits to skirts and shorts.

Some really great pieces that include the scalloped trim is the Wanda blazer from Lilly Pulitzer, the scalloped bathing suit top and matching hipster bottoms from J.Crew, rings from Kate Spade, iPhone case from Anthropologie, and pointed ballet flats from Lulu’s.

These pieces will help your wardrobe escape to beach-y paradise.
