The city of Chicago is not limited to Millennium Park, Water Tower Place, and Navy Pier, nor is it adequately represented by the Hyde Park community. Far from it—Chicago in fact comprises parks, museums, theatres, art spaces, as well as various neighborhoods and ethnic communities

Co-sponsored by Chicago Studies and the Office of the Reynolds Club and Student Activities (ORCSA), Discover Chicago is an exciting University of Chicago program that allows students to explore the rich offerings of the City, from Pilsen and Ukrainian Village to the Spring Flower Show at the Garfield Park Conservatory.

The program offers multiple trips and/or deals a quarter, such as discounted tickets to Broadway shows. Students can sign up either through the Chicago Studies or ORCSA website.

Trips may or may not require a small fee, but usually include transportation and a guided tour (if applicable). Last quarter, students went to Pilsen—home to Chicago’s largest Latino community—and toured the National Museum of Mexican Arts in time for Dios de la Muerte.

Chicago Studies is currently planning a “Ukrainian Village Art Tours” for next quarter, which will involve tours of the Ukrainian National Museum of Chicago and the Ukrainian Institute of Modern Art. More information about the trip will be released in the spring.

Annie is a Political Science major at the University of Chicago who not only writes for Her Campus, but is also one of Her Campus UChicago's Campus Correspondents. She also acts as Editor-In-Chief of Diskord, an online op-ed publication based on campus, and as an Arts and Culture Co-Editor for the university's new Undergraduate Political Review. When she's not busy researching, writing, and editing articles, Annie can be found pounding out jazz choreography in a dance room, furiously cheering on the Vancouver Canucks, or around town on the lookout for new places, people, and things. This year, Annie is back in DC interning with Voice of America once again!
