FASHION FRIDAY: The 2013 Oscar’s Biggest Fashion Winners

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at USF chapter.

As award season draws to a close we end with Hollywood biggest award night: The Oscar’s. This night brings together Hollywood’s elite with Hollywood’s up and coming stars for a spectacular night of glitz and glamour, and just as important as who took home the biggest award honors is who wowed the red carpet with their fashion choices. Here are my top five picks for the biggest fashion winners at the 2013 Oscar’s.

5. Adele

From a stellar performance on the stage to an Oscar win for Best Music (Original Song) for “Skyfall” Adele was a big winner all around, especially in the fashion department. Adele donned a Jenny Packham floor-length black gown that draped her figure perfectly. Her perfectly coiffed hair was the right touch to give her that old school Hollywood feel, and she looked absolutely glamorous and elegant.

4. Jennifer Hudson

What was hotter than Jennifer Hudson’s performance at the Oscar’s? Her red carpet look, of course! If anyone brought glitz to the red carpet it was Jennifer Hudson in this daring Roberto Cavalli dress. Jennifer was one of the few women to take a risk that night with her outfit choice, and it paid off. The dress hugged Jennifer’s beautiful figure perfectly and the slit at the bottom of the dress was the perfect showing of skin. What topped of this stunning look was her simple, straight hair that added to the sleekness of her look.

3. Samantha Barks

In a Valentino dress Samantha Barks showed that she can wear the simplest of dresses and look absolutely flawless. Samantha’s minimal makeup and statement necklace were a perfect choice to accompany her dress, as it didn’t take away from the focal point of the dress – the deep plunging V-neck. Samantha Barks is definitely one to watch not only in fashion (check out the stunning gown she wore as she performed, on stage at the Oscar’s, with the cast of “Les Misérables” here) but also in her career, as she is on her way to becoming a big star if her brilliant performance, as Épinone, in “Les Misérables” says anything.

2. Amanda Seyfried

Amanda Seyfried dazzled in an Alexander McQueen gown adorned with silver embroideries. Amanda has been someone to watch all award season long, and she didn’t disappoint at the Oscar’s, as she was a vision in lilac, looking very sophisticated and glamorous, and her minimal makeup and tousled up do perfectly pulled her look together.

1. Jennifer Lawrence

This night definitely belonged to Jennifer Lawrence who graced the red carpet in Dior Haute Couture that made her look as if she stepped out of a fairytale. Jennifer looked graceful and elegant in this full, ivory gown, but the best part of Jennifer’s look beside her new accessory, her Oscar for Best Actress,  had to have been the backwards Chopard necklace that was draping down her back. I think she’s about to start a new trend! This girl is definitely one to watch when it comes to fashion, and she gets my pick as the Oscar’s biggest fashion winner of the night!
