10 Things You Shouldn’t Feel Bad About Doing When You Should Be Studying For Finals

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Oregon chapter.

With the end of the term looming, there is so much schoolwork to get done. With copious amounts of studying comes copious amounts of procrastinating. I don’t know about you, but social media is always way more interesting to me when there is homework around. But after the fifth time of automatically typing “Facebook” into my browser instead of my email login, I start to feel guilty. That’s why I log out, and procrastinate in these guilt-free ways.

1. Packing three days early for spring break. Because even though your exam is tomorrow, you’ll be thanking yourself when you’re not scrambling four hours before your flight.

2. Reading a chapter from your guilty pleasure book. Sometimes, your brain just needs a break.

3. Checking out as many BuzzFeed lists as you can before you get kicked out of the library for laughing to loudly. 28 Cats Who Have No Idea How They Ended Up Here? Priceless.

4. Researching, in-depth, every new band you discover on Pandora. Hey, it’s still studying!

5. Deciding that your coffee break should also include baking that cookie dough you bought. You can catch up on an episode of Girls while you wait. It’s only twenty minutes.

6. Realizing that right when you’re about to start your paper, you can’t stand the way your pantry is organized. Someone’s gotta go through all that food before the break, right?

7. Watching one too many One Direction videos and laughing about how serious your love for them is with your roommates. I can speak from experience, this is the best stress reliever.

8. Writing out a to-do list for the upcoming break. Goal setting is essential to your future!

9. Going to the gym. Mental health, spiritual health, physical health—all important!

10. Knowing when to say when. Take a nap, recharge, and begin again with a rested mind.
