So, spring break is coming up and everyone you know is either going to Cabo or on the semester system. Looking forward to spending a week alone at home? No? Well, maybe after reading this inspirational list of fun “loner activities,” you will journey to your fatherland with a bit more enthusiasm!

  • Visit old high school teachers: Reunite with the fond memories of the days when a test was only worth 40 points, instead of 40 percent of your grade. This is also the perfect opportunity for an ego boost, as you get to feel extremely cool in front of high schoolers…score!
  • Exploit free trials of various gyms: Three days here, three days there, no commitments, responsibilities, or regrets. Just like Cabo…
  • Teach yourself a new hobby: Whether it’s knitting, drawing, or juggling, you can definitely find tutorials on YouTube. Why travel to Mexico when you can sit in your living room and watch a fellow loner sit in front of their webcam as they teach you the basics of juggling rubber balls?!
  • Get a killer six-pack: Pretend that you’re confined in a prison cell, and do crunches and push-ups until you collapse. Repeat this cycle until you can make kitchen cutlery out of your abs of steel.
  • Make dinner for your family: Surprise your parents when they come home from work. Even if all you can make is spaghetti, it’s the thought that counts!
  • Watch a new show on Netflix: Look for something with at least three seasons, and start it from the beginning. Try Revenge, Walking Dead  or Arrested Development.
  • Embark on a solo hike, but tell someone where you are going: Unless your goal is to amputate your own arm, it is important that at least one person knows your location. Bring plenty of water, your phone, and some deep thoughts.
  • Send your friends postcards from your hometown: “Missing you, from Walnut Creek. I have so much to tell you! The office buildings are breathtaking. Today I saw a mom walk down the sidewalk pushing a stroller of twins. Later, I ate some grapes. You should have been there!”
  • Memorize as many decimal places of Pi as you can: This is a last resort, but will definitely take up some time. Who knows, maybe you’ll set a world record, you cool kid, you.
