Midterms are done. Theses are in. Now it’s spring break, and it’s time to do the hard work of chilling out. But wait! First you need to decide where you’re going to kick back and party hard for a week, and Her Campus is here to help.
Five Fabulous Spring Break Ideas
1. “I want a traditional spring break!”
You just finished two huge midterm papers. Creativity just isn’t a thing that’s going to happen right now. What you need is a tried-and-true spring break getaway to beautiful Boise! Tens of college students flock to the most populated city in Idaho every March to enjoy some potatoes and get away from the stress of homework. Find a coffee shop to hang out in and I’m sure you’ll run into some fellow spring-breakers eventually!
2. “I need a break from this weather.”
Boston ain’t known for it’s balmy winters. Even worse, once you get through the worst of the ice and the snow, you have to get soaked by cold spring rains before arriving at the Promised Land of summer. Break the cycle and hop on a bus to Montreal, Quebec. Not only will all you underage collegiettes be able to enjoy Canadian nightlife with our friendly international neighbors, you can brush up on your French while enjoying some of the beautiful cultural attractions Montreal has to offer. Trust me, you won’t even notice the cold—you’ll already be numb from frostbite!
3. “I want to do something different.”
I get it. All of your classmates are road-tripping down to Miami, but you and your crew want to stand out from the crowd. Why not try flying down to Florida, then? If you’re like me, the airplane ride will be half the fun, and you can avoid all the flat tires, broken air-conditioners, and sketchy convenience store bathroom breaks that are bound to happen on a two-day car ride. Which sounds better, the questionable hot dog you got at a gas station or complementary cookies at 30,000 feet?
4. “I’m on a budget.”
Treating yourself to a vacation doesn’t have to mean breaking the bank. Luckily, if you do your homework, some travel agencies geared toward spring-breakers offer beautiful cruise getaways to places like Cancun, the Bahamas, or Jamaica. It doesn’t cost a dime to soak up some rays and get some quality tan lines. Besides, cruises are fun! How often do you get the chance to relax under miles of blue sky with your closet friends, being rocked to sleep by the ocean? The cruise lines are pretty understanding of a collegiette’s limited budget, so you’ll only have to sell one or two of your roommates’ wardrobes to make it back in time for classes.
5. “I don’t care! Just get me out of here.”
If all else fails, buy that ticket home and spend some quality time with your family. There’s always a stash of your favorite junk food at home and at least our parents still like us . . . Right?
