We are college students in the day of the age where smartphones rule the world. We are constantly clinging to our phones, checking it every minute because we need to check the weather, the latest sports updates, and/or pin our favorite things to our Pinterest. But who can blame us? We are capable of doing so many different things with our phones and the people who think of all these interesting apps make our lives so much easier on-the-go. Â
As an on-the-go college student, I have found that there are some up and coming apps that I absolutely must have on my phone. It organizes my life and yes, it’s all so entertaining.
- Vine
Probably not that well-known yet but this app is essentially an Instagram for videos. Capture all those moments of your life that you think is worth sharing. The Vine app lets you record tidbits of different moments and create a video that you can share with your followers. Let you creative juices flow and become the director of your own life!
 - Fooducate
For all my health-conscious collegiettes, this app is just for you! This app comes equipped with a health tracker, food browser and a scanner. If you’re like me, keeping myself healthy has become a priority these days, especially after my run-ins with the dessert bar at the Rat. This app allows you to scan the barcodes of different foods (perfect for grocery shopping) and it gives you a grade as to how healthy something is, supplying facts about why it’s good or bad for you. It also lets you track your health by allowing you to input the foods you eat (use the scanner to scan the items!), beverages you consume, and keep track of how many calories you burn through exercise.
 - Spending Tracker
I cannot tell you how many times I hear the phrase, “I’m a broke college student.” Yes, in college we have the tendency to spend money we don’t have and then we get the dreaded phone call from the parentals asking why your bank account is currently at negative. With the Spending app, you can now keep track of your money and make sure you’re not overspending. The great thing about this app is that it allows you to input a set amount you wish to spend every month and expense the amount when you decide to spend money. It easily lets you categorize your purchases (food, clothing, groceries, gas, etc.) and keep track of how much you are spending. If you have an influx of money, you can add it to your monthly allowance and when you spend, you can deduct the amount from your monthly allowance. It’s a great way to organize your expenditures and hopefully help you not overspend your hard earned money!
 - Kismet
A nifty app that allows you to create hangouts with your nearby friends. Link this app to your Facebook and you can see where your friends are around campus. Need someone to eat lunch with? Find a buddy who’s in the Rat and join them for a nice meal. Need to get your upcoming event out to your friends? Create a hangout and invite your friends to come hang out!
