Spring To-do List: Eugene

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Oregon chapter.

The sun is finally breaking through the grey of winter and flowers are starting to bloom. It’s springtime in Eugene! It’s time to leave campus and go on some adventures. Here’s a bucket list for spring in Eugene after lying out in the sun grows old. Make sure to bring along a camera!

Hike Spencer’s Butte: This moderate hike is a great activity for you and your friends to tackle on a Saturday or Sunday morning. From the top you can see a teeny tiny Autzen Stadium off in the distance. The Ridgeline Trailhead is less than 5 miles from campus and is easily accessible by car or bus.

Enjoy a Baseball Game: It’s America’s favorite pastime and the Oregon Ducks baseball team is looking really good this season. They’ve won 22 out of the 28 games played this season, so grab a few of your friends and head over to PK Park for some baseball! I would definitely recommend the PK Park Burger; it’s absolutely delicious and worth the “stadium price.” For the full schedule, check out goducks.com.

Wade in the Willamette: Alright, this one is for the brave. I’ll admit that when I went, I could barely put my feet in, let alone my whole body because it was so cold, but the adventure itself was full of laughter and smiles. Make sure to bring towels and maybe a hoodie to warm up in afterwards. My advice is to try the bank closest to campus because you can start with just your feet and work your way deeper if you dare.

Brushfire Ceramics: Get your arts n’ crafts on! Brushfire works just like Color Me Mine: you pick out the pre-made ceramic piece, paint it, and leave it there to be fired and turned into a masterpiece. Maybe it’s time for a new cereal bowl or mug in your cupboard? Brushfire is located at 954 Pearl Street.

Hendrick’s Park: A short walk from campus is Hendrick’s Park. It’s a bit of a hike up to the park, but worth it. In the spring, the featured rhododendron garden is in full bloom and it is gorgeous. The park boasts thousands of rhododendron varieties as well as other native plants, so pack a picnic and head up to the park for a relaxing afternoon with friends or a good book.

Skate World: This 80’s themed roller rink is perfect for a goofy night with friends. Whether it’s your first time skating or you’re a pro, you’re sure to have a great time with your closest girlfriends. They have quad skates as well as inline skates to rent. It’s easy to access by car or bus and pretty inexpensive. They are located at 3188 Gateway Loop in Springfield.
