7 Reasons You Need to Start Using Bentley’s eBooks

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Bentley chapter.

I am about to fill you in on one of Bentley’s most hidden gems. If you aren’t already, you should absolutely start using Bentley Library Overdrive.  With over 500 eBooks and audiobooks, Overdrive is an amazing resource our campus offers but only few take an advantage of.  Here are 7 reasons you need to start downloading Bentley’s eBooks:

1.    Convenience:  Almost any book you can think of is barely 5 clicks away!  Right now the selection is over 500, but it’s constantly growing.  We sit on our laptops all day, so why not peruse the book selection on Bentley’s Overdrive?

2.    Downloads to Everything: Laptop, iPad, Kindle, Nook, smartphone? You name it, these audiobooks and eBooks work on all options.

3.    Popular Choices/Recommended Section: If you are new to the site, check you can check out the “Popular Download” section of the homepage to see what other Bentley students are reading.  Once you become an avid user, like me, you can look into the “Recommendations” customized just for you!

4.    Plenty of Time to Read: The loan period for most books is 21 days.  Three weeks is plenty of time to read.  Plus you never have to worry about late fees!  Once the 21 days are up, the loan period expires, and the title is no longer available on your eReader.

5.    It’s FREE: This should really be your number 1 reason for accessing the Overdrive.  College students get discounts everywhere, and so we must take advantage of them while we can.  Free books at your fingertips? What more could a bookworm as for?

6.    Pinterest Boards from the Bentley Library: Not sure what kind of book you want to read?  The Bentley Library has loads of favorites on their Pinterest Page.  I’m sure many of you didn’t even realize the library had a Pinterest page!  Our reference librarians are extremely socially savvy.  Between their active @BentleyLibrary Twitter handle, blog, and Pinterest boards, the library has a plethora of recommendations ready and available to all students.

7.    Rated by Fellow Students: Along with the traditional description and reviews for each book, there is a five star rating.  These stars are averaged out from other students who have rented and rated the books once they are done reading them.

Still unconvinced about Bentley’s eBooks options? Just tweet at @BentleyLibrary and I’m sure they’ll respond with more reasons.  Next time you’re looking for a bored during a long weekend or sitting on a beach with nothing to do during spring break, check out Bentley Library Overdrive!
