Sun’s Out, Fun’s Out!

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at U Chicago chapter.

While we have been getting a lot of rain, it’s finally time to enjoy the warm weather in the city! Read on for some fun ideas to explore Chicago:

Garfield Park Conservatory:

The Conservatory’s lush greenery and warm air create the perfect springtime experience. Just walking inside this beautiful glass building will make you feel like you’re on a tropical island. Enjoy the azaleas, camellias, hydrangeas and beautiful colors at their Spring Flower Display, which runs until May 12th! Best part? FREE Admission.

Kayak Chicago:

Kayaking in the city of Chicago? Sounds odd, but it’s totally a thing since we have the Chicago River! Kayak Chicago has plenty of deals for first-time kayakers as well as those looking for a real adventure. Their tours are pricey, but take advantage of group rates by getting a bunch of friends together. If you’re looking for a shorter experience or just want to explore, it’s only $20 an hour to rent a kayak.

Cubs Games:

Spring calls for baseball season; so get out to a Cubs game! The Cubs have several games at Wrigley field in May and you can check out their schedule here.

Speaking of Wrigley Field, it’s definitely worth taking a tour of the stadium on game day, even if you’re not a baseball buff. Tours are 75-90 minutes long, and I’ve heard so many great things from people who have taken them. You’ll get a special look at the seating bowl, clubhouse, dugout, press box, indoor batting cage, and more.

Shedd Aquarium:

Located in Chicago’s Museum Campus, the Shedd Aquarium promises a fantastic experience for everyone young and old. If you’re like me and don’t even remember your last visit to the aquarium, make some time in your schedule to spend a day at Shedd with the fish and turtles!  The best part: General admission is only $8.
