The New App That Gets You Great Deals

Many students are beginning to understand the term “Kruue Approved” after a successful launch party held at The Union. This new endorsement label made it’s way to Iowa on Thursday April 4th, where over 1,200 people attended the party. They also had over 700 people download the new Kruue App, and gave away a ton of great deals.

What is Kruue?

Is an app you can download on your phone, and then scan QR codes to “check in” and receive great deals. It’s a way for local businesses to know how many people are coming into their store, and for them to give away deals to their frequent customers.

It’s great for students because just by scanning the code they are getting money off of the things they are already buying.

How did it begin?

Kruue originated at Central Michigan by Anthony Lazzaro and Zach Samson. The name was derived from Zach and Anthony frequently referring to their networks as “crews” at various colleges and universities while they marketed and promoted for various music events.

Kruue beta tested at Central Michigan and Wright State last school year in preparation for its launch in the Big Ten this semester.

It launched at Indiana, Illinois and Iowa on April 3rd and 4th.

How do you use Kruue?

Students can download the App in the App Store and Google Play by searching “Kruue”. It is completely free. After downloading the app you can select your school, scan QR codes, and get great deals. It’s as easy as that.

The students within Kruue choose businesses in the community that they feel most students visit frequently. Those businesses then become “Kruue Approved”. The Kruue Approved businesses use the App to display their deals through the Campus Newsfeed.

The main feature of the App is the Kruue code scanner. Many businesses use QR codes, and Kruue uses the codes to give deals to students. The Kruue codes can be found all around campus, and every time a student scans they win a deal from one of the businesses.

The Kruue codes within the businesses are loyalty codes that give deals specific to the business. All the student does is scan the code at a business where it checks them in and gives them a deal to that business. The business can then see how many times a student checks in, and choose to give them better deals based on how often they come in.

There is also a general Kruue QR code you can scan once every 24 hours, where you will receive deals such as a free mug club mug from Brothers, or $5 off your order at Formosa. All you do is scan and save.

How does it work?

Money comes from the fees charged to merchants by Kruue for our services. A large portion of any fees we charge gets put back into the student body through events, scholarships, and other promotions.

Students save money at businesses they already love, and it is a great way to save money while having the novelty of a scratch off ticket. It is like a constantly updated coupon book on your phone rather than in a drawer at your apartment.

The businesses give deals away through the Kruue app because it builds loyalty between the students and the Kruue merchants. This is a mutually beneficial relationship between students and the merchants. Students get deals, merchants have more regular customers they can build a rapport with in a new way.
