Wow, I cannot believe that my Coachella weekend is over. It was such a dream to experience all the music and just overall atmosphere and vibe of this now well-known music festival.

Entering the weekend, I was actually quite nervous because I have never been to something that would span this long, and as the born and raised SoCal girl that I am, I think anything over 80 is scorching hot. However, once I got there, the adrenaline was rushing and I was ready for an unforgettable getaway from Irvine with just my boyfriend and our sunscreen.

Headed toward Indio

We packed up and headed out Thursday night since we did not choose to camp on-site and did not want to miss any of the amazing acts that would perform on Friday afternoon. I’m glad we did this because it gave us a chance to rest and get situated before the festival began.

Friday was not my favorite day as far as the acts go, but in my opinion, some of my favorite performances included TNGHT, Purity Ring, Of Monster and Men, and Passion Pit.

Saturday was a crazy day and there were more hip hop acts than on Friday (for all the people celebrating the infamous 4/20). Of course they had to have 2Chainz on at 4:20 PM. The notable acts for me were The XX (definitely recommend seeing them), The Postal Service, and Baauer, just to name a few.

Sunday I was feeling a little sad in the nostalgic way because it was the last day of the festival. But at the same time, I was feeling ready to come back home for some much needed R&R. It was the hottest day yet, and we just tried to stay out of the sun as much as possible. The acts I perceived as memorable included Wu-Tang, Hardwell, The Lumineers, and Disclosure (my all-time fav of the weekend).

If you plan on going to Coachella in the future, my advice would be:

  1. Bring sunscreen, hats, sunglasses (Try not to lose them like I did. Fortunately I lost my cheap pair and not my Ray-bans) and other sun protecting items

  2. Wear comfortable walking/dancing shoes. I saw some girls walking around in sandals with no arch support. I don’t know how they were still able to walk by day 3.

  3. Stay hydrated! There are free water refill stations. Also, they do not limit what size water container you can bring in. My boyfriend and I brought in an empty gallon size bottle and carried it around all day in our backpack so we did not have to refill it and miss the music!

  4. Be nice to people. So many times rude people would literally shove me down in the crowd. People will move for you in the crowd if you say excuse me. If  you see that you have knocked someone to the ground by accident, at least say sorry and help them back up. It really can ruin a person’s time at that performance if you are rude in the crowd.

  5. Have fun!

So overall, I would say that it was a very, very amazing experience. However, I do not believe that I will be coming back for a second time, but who knows what the future holds!
