‘Glee’ Star Cory Monteith’s Death Confirmed as an Overdose

Just like Heath Ledger, Corey Haim, and River Phoenix before him, Cory Monteith has joined the ranks of those whose lives were taken before their time due to a drug overdose.

According to a report released by the British Columbia Coroners Service, Glee actor Cory Monteith died due to an overdose of heroin and alcohol. In a statement, the office said, “There is no evidence to suggest Mr. Monteith’s death was anything other than a most tragic accident.”

In a briefing yesterday afternoon, the Vancouver Police Department said that they believe Cory had been dead for several hours before they found him in his hotel room Saturday afternoon. However, they said it was too early for the coroner’s office to indicate the levels of heroin or alcohol in his system or to conclude whether Cory was the victim of a bad batch of heroin.

The publicist of Cory’s girlfriend and Glee costar Lea Michele also released a statement yesterday afternoon, saying, “Since Cory’s passing, Lea has been grieving alongside his family and making appropriate arrangements with them. They are supporting each other as they endure this profound lost together.”

You will be missed, Cory.
