Although this is the start of the fall semester, let’s be real: we live in Florida. We don’t really experience fall weather for more than about four weeks. So for the next month we will continue to see summer styles on campus. A big trend this year is maxi dresses. Maxi dresses are cool and comfortable. They are easy for an outfit on the run with a denim vest or even a date night with wedges.

In addition, maxi dresses are versatile and can be worn throughout the seasons in many different ways. In the summer time they can be paired with strappy sandals and bold accessories. For the winter they can be matched with a chunky cardigan and ankle booties. Maxi dresses are good for any body type and have a large selection of styles. They can range from one color to cute prints and patterns. Tribal print is definitely on trend this year, as well as stripes. Plus, it is easy to throw a tee over a maxi dress and change the look into a long skirt.

Stores like H&M, Charlotte Russe, and Forever 21 have stylish and reasonably priced maxis along with plenty of accessories to pair with your dress. If you’re willing to spend a little extra money, check out Urban Outfitters, Francesca’s or American Apparel. Get creative! Whether you pair your maxi dress with a bold necklace, waist belt or hat, it will surely make a statement!
