Imagine your spouse waking from surgery only to forget that the two of you have ever been married. Imagine him then falling in love with you all over again.
Through six grueling years of surgeries and recoveries, Jason Mortensen has always had his faithful wife Candice by his side. However, after his latest surgery last month, a hernia operation that set out of fix residual tears from a previous surgery, Jason awoke to have forgotten who his wife was.
In a doped-up question and answer session with Candice, who stands above him filming the scene with her cell phone, Jason tries to figure out the woman’s identity (“Did the doctor send you? Man, you are eye candy.”) before finally figuring out that the beautiful woman is his wife—a revelation he finds both thrilling and difficult to believe.
The video, both hilarious and touching, has already millions of views. As Jason posted alongside the video, “I wish I could remember this but I was definitely out of it. This was my fifth surgery within our six years of marriage, and she’s been by my side through all of it. In a previous surgery I suffered a severe complication and we didn’t know if I’d ever function the same again. She is the love of my life. Glad everyone is enjoying the video.”
