Do you ever see those crazy, artsy hairstyles on the runway and think to yourself: When would I ever wear that in real life? If you’re looking to rock a hair-do that’s completely different from your plain Jane style then have no fear! Here are three ideas that are totally chic and not too crazy to actually wear out and about.

1. Dutch Flower Braid

So there are side braids, regular braids and fishtail braids but why not turn your braid into a flower? This is definitely a style that will have people asking: “Wow, how did you do that!?” First, begin to french braid your hair outwards starting from the front right rather than directly from the middle. This is called a dutch french braid. Then continue to braid the hair from left to right. Once you finish the braid all the way down, take the tip of the braid and twirl it inward to form a flower. Bobby pin the tip to what would be the center of the flower. To spice it up a bit, take a hair jewel and place it in the middle. Voila!

2. Hair Bow

This style is cute and easy for a day of classes or a lunch date with the girls. Gather your hair at the top of your head or half up, half down and begin to create a ponytail. On your final wrap around, don’t pull the hair all the way through but stop halfway to make a bun. Leave a tail of hair coming out of the bun. Split the bun evenly into two. Then take the tail of hair and wrap it around the middle where the bun was split. Once it is wrapped all the way around, tuck the end of the tail into the hair elastic.

3. Peacock Dipdye

Now this style will most likely require a professional hairstylist but it’s definitely worth the bold statement! Ombré and dipdye are the hottest hair trends right now so why not kick it up a notch by incorporating different colors of the rainbow? Ask your stylist to combine deep purple, teal and hot pink to the ends of your hair. You have the choice of either dying your ends or using a hair chalk, which can easily be found at any CVS or WalMart. You’ll be sure to stand out no matter what!
