If you were unaware, or just don’t follow us on social media platforms, which, by the way, you should! Links at the bottom), HerCampus turned 4 yesterday!!! We here at HerCampus Stonehill obviously applaud this milestone and feel so fortunate to be a part of such a successful organization that empowers high school and college-aged women and beyond.
In honor of this great achievement, I have decided to mention the top 4 things that also happened 4 years ago as a little throwback for us all to 2009!
1. President Barack Obama was sworn in as our 44th President of the United States, and the first African-American president in our history.
2. The crown of the Statue of Liberty reopens after 8 years of remaining closed following the 9/11 attacks on the World Trade Center.
3. The King of Pop, Michael Jackson passed away forever being known as the most successful entertainer of all time.
4. Pilot “Sully” Sullenburger was able to land his US Airways jetliner onto the Hudson River without injuring any of the 155 people on board.
Obviously a lot can happen in four years. You can graduate high school or college (or both if you’re amazing), you can go from teen to twenty-something, or you can become the most successful online website for college women like HerCampus! Congrats to this amazing organization and the amazing women who are all a part of it!
