The Hunger Games trilogy — Suzanne Collins
The Hunger Games phenomenon exploded across the world two years ago when the movie (starring Jennifer Lawrence and Liam Hemsworth) first came out in the movies. Since then, The Hunger Games: Catching Fire (which is slotted to come out in theaters in November of this year), has quickly become one of the most anticipated films to be released this year. Now, although the movies are good, the books are always better (I think we can all agree on that, regardless of the movie/book in question). With the new movie coming out in November, now is the perfect time to jump on the bandwagon and lose yourself in the arena.

Mortal Instruments Series — Cassandra Clare
When The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones came out in theaters, it wasn’t exactly generating any Oscar-worthy buzz. However, these books have it all. Romance, action, demons, angels, werewolves, vampires; you get the drift. These books are written in such a way that you are swept off into the world of the shadowhunters, only to emerge wondering what might be lurking around the corner. Beware though, once you read the first book, you’ll be clamoring to get your hands on the rest of the series.

A Great and Terrible Beauty Trilogy – Libba Bray
Set in the 1800s, this trilogy takes the reader on a journey across fantastical realms with the main heroine of the story: Gemma Doyle. Following the death of her mother in India, Gemma returns to her home in Britain to be sent to a boarding school for girls. There, she is supposed to be learning how to be a “proper” lady. However, things take a drastic turn when Gemma discovers her ability to cross into a magical world called the “realms”. This trilogy is by far one of the best I have ever read. Filled with everything from romance to friendship, magic, bravery and adventure, these books will have you hungrily turning each page.

Gone Girl — Gillian Glynn
When this book was released, the female reading population began booming with praise. Gone Girl quickly rocketed up to the top spots on the bestseller lists and has had readers everywhere hanging on the edge of their seat. This thriller, with twists and turns on every page will keep you captivated right until the very end. You definitely don’t want to miss out on this read.

The Giver — Lois Lowry
This book had to be thrown in the mix of must read fall books since it’s shrouded in a feeling of nostalgia. Almost everyone I’ve ever met has admitted to reading The Giver at some point in their elementary or middle school years, and with the news breaking this week that there will soon be a movie adaption to follow, now is the perfect time to read one of the best books (at least I think so!) ever written.
-
Inferno — Dan Brown
Inferno currently claims the Number 12 spot on the New York Times bestseller for the week of September 22nd. . Another Dan Brown book, that takes you this time, to the streets of Florence, Italy. If you’re anything of a history buff, or know anything about Dante, then this is definitely your book. An action-pack, quick paced book that will keep you turning pages, this book won’t disappoint.

The Great Gatsby- F. Scott Fitzgerald
When The Great Gatsby was released in theaters earlier this year, many people quickly claimed it was their favorite book, like, EVER! But, let’s be real, I’m sure most people read it once in high school, dragging their feet all along the way before tossing it. But when you have a Jay Gatsby played by Leonardo DiCaprio, and a beautiful Daisy played by Carrie Mulligan, now’s the perfect time to pick up this classic book of lust, love, adultery, romance and despair. This time around, be sure to read it extra carefully so you don’t miss the true literary genius that is just oozing off the pages of this book.
