So you’re graduating: What to do your last year at Emerson

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Emerson chapter.

Entering your last year, or even semester, at Emerson is a mixed bag of feelings. It is a combination of thinking about the future, freaking out about the future, getting excited for new possibilities and returning to freaking out about what is next. While preparing for the future is important, your last months at Emerson should be cherished and celebrated as only a true Emersonian can. So, to help you say goodbye to Emerson the right way, we have compiled a list of things you should do before getting your diploma.

Eat a (sober) piece of NYP

It’s been through some changes in the past four years, but it is still the lovable late-night pizza place with slices larger than many other restaurants’ entire pies.

Lay out on the hill in the Common

Enjoy one of Boston’s nicer days with a blanket and maybe even some takeout from the revamped Em Cafe and remember what it was like the first time you ever hung out on the Common freshman year.

Use your student discount anywhere/everywhere possible

Although Emerson IDs don’t have an expiration date, there will be a day (sooner than you’d like) that the photo no longer really looks like you. So, before that time comes, get as much free food, discounted clothing and exclusive deals as possible.

Go to an Emerson event

Whether a play, Mr. Emerson, or any of the other events put on by one of the many clubs at Emerson, you need to support your fellow Emersonians.

Go to Gyspy Bar

We have all seen the girls stumbling around in heels that could double as weapons and skirts that look more like underwear than actual clothing hanging on to the men in bedazzled shirts for stability coming out of the infamous Gypsy Bar all weekend long. Just imagine what it is like inside.

Go to Bova’s at an unreasonable time

The North End bakery is open 24/7 for a reason and you should take full advantage of it. Maybe it’s just a late-night sweet tooth or an alcohol-induced trek or some other munchie-related emergency, relish in the many options Bova’s has to offer.

Go to a Quidditch match

Undoubtedly Emerson’s most popular sport, if you haven’t seen twenty-somethings running around the common with a broom between their legs while shooting balls at one of the hool-a-hoop goals by the time you graduate, you are really missing out.

Steal from the DH (Within reason!)

It is already factored into your meal plan, so why not? Apples, bannanas, silverware, salt and pepper- we’re all guilty of taking these every once in a while.

Befriend Securitas

They see you at your best and worst times and probably have some really good stories about some other kids’ crazy nights, so make some new friends.

Take a class at the gym

The machines fill up fast and more often than not a few are out of order so taking a class is definitely worth a try. For the more coordinated there is kickboxing and zumba, for those looking for a high impact workout spinning and circuit training and there is always yoga, relaxing and restorative yoga.
