Getting ready for internships and class in a hurry is a regular challenge — no matter what time your morning starts, it’s really difficult to look your best. So you do what you can, and then you get a glimpse of yourself in public. What was I thinking with this sweater? I forgot mascara! Nothing you can do now but trudge on.
Well that’s not exactly the case if you end up in an elevator with YouTube star Jessica Harlow and hair expert Theodore Leaf. These two have teamed up with Glamour to give busy NYC ladies super-quick makeovers on the Elevator Makeover YouTube Channel. How quick? Well you better hope you’re going to a top floor, because the makeover only lasts in that one elevator ride to the top. It totally reminds us of when Cher and Dionne gave Ms. Geist a makeover in Clueless!
Luckily, it’s not only those fortunate enough to end up in that fateful elevator ride who will benefit from Theodore and Jessica’s tips. With their YouTube channel (which by the way, you should totally subscribe to so you don’t miss any of their fun makeovers), we can all see how to take our outfit from blah to beautiful in just a few minutes.
My favorite video is one in which Theodore and Jessica help a girl get ready for a beach wedding (yes, in an elevator!) and do really natural makeup on her and this amazing braid. Theodore did a braid wrap, that started on one side of her head French-style and then ended as a regular braid (like all French braids do) on the side. She looked so cute and beach-y and Theodore made me feel like the look was actually do-able. And — it was do-able! Yes it will take me some practice to perfect this casual braid, but I think I can actually do it.
In another video, Leah is getting a trendy makeover and ends up looking amazing. I never realized how bright lipstick could make your teeth look so much whiter, so that’s something I can definitely take from this episode.
