Happy Monday Ladies! Valerie here to introduce you guys to my brand new music blog where I will be talking about all types of hot new artist breaking out. Artists from all genres that I think are hot and definitely going places! So come on by every Monday to see what new artist I feature on here and give them a shot, they might become your new obsession!

So the first artist to start off my first Music Monday with a big bang is New Zealand pop star Lorde.  You might not know who she is but I guarantee many of you have probably heard her music lately as her song “Royals” is currently taking the radio over.  Ella Yelich-O’Connor is her real name and even though she has such a big voice this pop sensation is only 16 years old. Her music created so much buzz in New Zealand and it has just hit here and from the looks of it this girl is going to blow up.  Lorde signed to Universal Records in September and she has already managed to be the first New Zealander to hit number one on the US “Billboard Top 100”.

What’s great about Lorde? She writes her own music! (Something we don’t see very often anymore) Her music has a very unique soul tone to it that resembles that of the Sleigh Bells and the Grimes.  Her music is refreshing, as it does not focus on boring sappy love stories or bad break-ups, instead she focuses on her surroundings and the environment she is in.  Her lyrics draw you in and are edgy and rebellious.

When it comes to her personality as an artist, Lorde is quirky and different. From the interviews I’ve seen she doesn’t care about negativity towards her music and she is just a free spirit who just wants to make good music and personally that is what I like best about her! Her whole persona as an artist is just very free and it’s awesome to see that in the music industry!

Lorde’s new album, Pure Heroine dropped in September and has a great tracklist of 10 songs, including her hit, “ Royals”.  My favorites from the album are, “ Team” and “White Teeth Teens”, two of the songs that have been on repeat on my phone for weeks now! You can pick up “Pure Heroine” in stores and on ITunes for only, $9.99.

This 16-year-old is making a name for herself and killing it in the US right now, so go check her out you may just fall in love with her!
