7 Last Minute Halloween Costumes

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at SMCVT chapter.

We’re all procrastinators, admit it. Whether it’s that five-page paper on Sunday night or picking out your Halloween costume, it’s college, so we get it! For those of you who’ve left your costume planning to the very last minute, don’t panic just yet; we’ve chosen our 7 favorite last-minute costumes for this Halloween that are guaranteed to impress, even on that crazy time crunch!

1. Who doesn’t love a good Mean Girls movie marathon? Well, get out of bed and get on that costume making, ladies! Channel your inner Regina George (well, maybe just her look), and cut out holes in a white top for a super-simple costume. Pair with army pants and flip flops, because we saw Cady Heron wearing army pants and flip-flops…

2. Remember the most popular song of last year? Gangnam style! Throw on a blue blazer for a PSY-inspired costume; it’s sure to be a night of upbeat music and invisible horse-riding fun.

3. So delicious, so “punny,” and so super easy – “chicken cord-on-blue.” This literal twist on the classic meal just takes a blue shirt, rubber chicken (probably from a $1 store?), and an old telephone cord. How simple, and funny, is that?!

4. Got some old cereal boxes just sitting around waiting to be recycled? Use them! Be a “cereal killer” complete with plastic knives and fake blood.

5. Grab a lei and hula skirt, borrow some boxing gloves (and if you don’t have any, use makeup to create a “black eye”) to be Hawaiian Punch! Get it?

6. We love a good bubble bath, and this costume is a super cute take on a favorite! Create a skirt out of white balloons and top off the look with a rubber ducky headband to look sweet and sudsy from head to toe!

7. You all know it, arguably the most popular book of the year – 50 Shades of Grey. We’re not all about that crazy whip and chain stuff for your actual costume, but rather a crazy cheap alternative. Head to your local hardware store and pick up a ton of those free paint samples (in every shade of grey), to make a “50 shades” costume!

Have a fun and fabulous Halloween, collegiettes. Even those of you who waited until the last minute – you’ll be costume-cute in no time!
