Katherine “FWAP” Volpe

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Stonehill chapter.

1. Let’s cut to the chase, you Katherine “fwap” Volpe have recently been crowned Stonehill’s super fan, how are you handling this celebrity status and is there an address I could write to in order to receive an autographed headshot?

It’s quite an experience. I got 8 new follower requests on twitter after my crowning, one of them being from The Martin Institute, so you could say my celebrity status peaked quite rapidly. You can reach me anytime at Donahue, I was just awarded a penthouse suite there for my new title as Superfan.

2. Sadly, I was not there to see you win, describe how you managed to win this ultimate honor.

Well first off it was my birthday, and what’s better than having midnight madness on your birthday? The answer is nothing, so that really set the mood. Once I was out in the middle of the floor for the contest I realized it was my time to shine and I went to work. It was an out of body experience where something just came over me and all of a sudden I was doing the worm, which I think really won the crowd over. My roommates also got me a birthday sash which I incorporated into my performance. Ultimately I think it came down to me expressing my true love for Stonehill through some eye-catching dance moves.

3. Since you are a super fan, describe your feelings for Stonehill in 3 words

I don’t think three words can describe how great Stonehill is because it’s the bomb but I think Stonehill is #AWESOME #FUN #LOVEABLE #goskyhawks

4. If you had to give Stonehill a new mascot what would it be and why?

It would probably be a FWAP. A FWAP is a unique creature, and I believe that deep inside every Stonehill student there is a sense of FWAP-ness, or in other words a very spirited, fun, outgoing and energetic character. GO FWAPS.

5. How did you get the nickname fwap and what does it stand for?

Well, I didn’t choose the FWAP life, the FWAP life chose me. One night at Kingston someone called me that, and ever since then I have internalized everything a FWAP symbolizes. FWAP stands for “Friends With Athletic People”, which I am, considering most of my friends are lax biddies. Shout-out to them.

6. Explain why Katherine “Cookie” McDonough is one of your main role models and how she inspires you.

Wow, this is a tough one considering I could go on for days. Katherine “Cookie” McDonough is a true American. She is everything that I aspire to be. Not only is she the funniest person to walk the halls of Stonehill, she may possibly be the most awesome person to walk the entire planet. CoCo has some snazzy dance moves and she has an awesome doll named Keesha that I like to bond with and bring out on Friday and Saturday nights. I like to think that we’re almost the same person, we’re even wearing the same vest right now. Her brother Richard and sister Suki are really cool too.

7. Would you rather be Angelica from Rugrats or Helga Pataki from Hey Arnold?

Angelica from Rugrats, only because her last name is Pickles, and a large part of my life is dedicated to the love of Pickles.

8. And last but certainly not least, if you were on the Queen Latifah Show, what would you chat about with the Queen?

I would probably chat about the fact that we are both strong, independent women that love life. I’d also talk about the possibility of us doing a duet together sometime, or possibly a music video. I think we have similar singing voices.
