It’s undeniable—brunch is the best meal. I’d be happy to listen to an argument to the contrary, but there is really nothing you can say to convince me otherwise. There is honestly nothing better than getting a group of your friends together late on a Sunday morning to enjoy a delicious meal. If you are feeling adventurous and decide to go somewhere other than Johnny’s or Eagle’s Deli, here are some brunch suggestions in the city!
5. Upstairs On the Square
Located in Harvard Square, this delicious brunch spot might be a bit of a trek, but is definitely worth it! This quaint restaurant has two dining rooms, and Sunday brunch service is held in the Monday Club Bar dining room. This eclectic restaurant provides for a wonderfully quaint and exciting atmosphere; there is always something to look at. I would recommend the buttermilk biscuits and the brunch burger, but the highlight of the meal is definitely dessert. Upstairs on the Square is known for their zebra cake, so if you go, save room for dessert! Make sure to check out their website.
4. Stephanie’s on Newbury
This is definitely a go-to if you plan on going shopping in the city after brunch! Although the price point is certainly high (but in my opinion, worth the splurge), the people-watching is priceless. In the fall when the weather is nice, sit outside and witness the hustle and bustle of Newbury Street!
3. South End Buttery
This restaurant serves brunch both Saturday and Sunday from 10-3 (bonus!). The South End Buttery was originally just a bakery, but they opened up a downstairs restaurant to increase service—and brunch has been a big hit ever since. Located in the South End (obviously), this eatery is extremely quaint and chic. Check out their menu. After stopping by for brunch, you should definitely take home some of their famous baked goods, including their pecan sticky buns!
2. Flour Bakery
Although this is not your traditional sit-down Sunday brunch, I had to put this bakery on the list because their baked goods are to die for. If you are in the mood to indulge, head to one of their four locations (the most accessible being Back Bay and the South End). You really just have to try it.
1. The Beehive
And finally, we have come to my favorite brunch spot in all of Boston. The Beehive is an exciting, young spot to join your friends for an unbelievable meal. The brunch menu is quite extensive, and the atmosphere is extremely unique. Live music is definitely the Beehive’s trademark, and their dining room is fun and cozy. I really can’t articulate how much I love this place, you have to go and experience it for yourself!
Grab your closest friends, and head to brunch in the city this weekend! It’s a great way to get off campus and enjoy the world’s most delicious meal.
