Halloween Fashion Couture

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Bentley chapter.

Halloween weekend: one of the most anticipated events of the college calendar for any collegiette and arguably even better than Christmas. Most of us will spend weeks obsessing over finding the perfect cute, sexy, and original costume, days scanning every party and thrift store within a 10 mile radius, and hours doing our hair and makeup just right. But at the end of the weekend, it’s worth it when you have a collection of photos of you and your friends and tons of great memories! To celebrate all of our hard work and possibly give you ideas for next year, here are some of the staff’s best costumes from this year.

Who doesn’t fondly remember playing Candyland as a child? Well, in honor of this love, my roommates and I dressed up as Candyland characters. We each made our costume using either old costumes that we reinvented with paint and glitter or just bedazzling plain shirts that we found at the store. We had a great time dressing up together and it definitely satisfied our sweet tooth!

You know Dasher and Dancer, Prancer and Vixen…and well, you know the rest. This creative crew dressed up as everyone’s favorite reindeers this Halloween and even had a Santa leading the sleigh. This costume is simple to create with a brown outfit, some antlers, and of course, a red nose if you’re Rudolph. And the best part is you can wear this for Christmas too!

Always a favorite, these three dressed up as vampires for Halloween, complete with fangs and even a little fake blood. This costume is perfect to do individually or as a group and you can make it as scary or cute as you want. The possibilities are endless and it’s a classic!

One of this year’s most popular costumes was Minions from the major animated hit, Despicable Me. These cute little guys won the hearts of collegiettes everywhere and the Bentley campus definitely paid homage to them this Halloween. It’s the perfect costume to do in a group since the movie has plenty of these little guys to go around and it’s easy to create and coordinate. Let’s just hope this costume trend lasts into next year also.

Another blast from the past, this group dressed up as one of our favorite Mario games, Mario Kart. They have their own Bowser, Mario, Toad, Princess Peach, and even Lakitu to hold the stop light. The best part is you can make the group as large or small as you want since there’s no lack of Mario characters. I love the creativity and individuality of each of the costumes separately and the perfection of it together.

Her Campus Bentley hopes you all had a fun and safe Halloween. Tell us below what you dressed up as and if you plan to use any of these ideas next year!
