Whether Thanksgiving dinner is a big family occasion or a small family gathering, the perfect outfit is always necessary. You must be prepared for an impromptu football game after dinner or an extra serving of pie at dessert, so comfort is key. Think comfort and style don’t go hand in hand? Think again. Read on for some outfit inspirations that will have you spending your Turkey Day feeling effortlessly chic.

Thanksgiving is one of the major highlights of fall, so stick with a warm color palette. Colors like mustard yellow, burnt orange, and various shades of brown are synonymous with the month of November. Try picking out a skirt, a sweater, or even tights in these colors. Colored tights are always a great addition to a solid-colored skirt and a textured sweater. Add a pair of brown booties and you will definitely stand out at the dinner table!

Worried about your waistband being too tight as you pile those mashed potatoes on your plate? Never fear, leggings are here! Leggings are always the comfortable option and can easily be dressed up. Be out of the ordinary with printed leggings in patterns like tribal and plaid. Pair it with a simple sweater or a cardigan and some riding boots. For a little something extra, play with different necklaces that feature bold pendants to make a statement.

If your holiday tends to be a fancier affair, dresses and heels can be appropriate attire. Pull out that sweater dress and your favorite pair of Mary Jane’s for the family photo. Or find yourself a mini (though not too mini) wool skirt in a houndstooth pattern to match with a simple long-sleeved shirt or a basic blazer. Be sure to be a bit conservative in order to leave a good impression on your extended family who might not get to see you very often!

For those traditional post-dinner movie theater trips, be sure to have your outerwear accessories on hand. Think hats, gloves, earmuffs, scarves, and of course that big comfy coat! A beige pea coat goes with anything and looks great with an orange scarf or hunter green earmuffs. Not to mention those brown leather gloves you’ve been hiding in your closet for months! Boots, whether short or tall, are also the perfect addition to help you brave the cold.

Thanksgiving is the perfect occasion to show your style. Whatever you do decide to wear, remember that maximum comfort in your outfit of choice will definitely equal maximum enjoyment and minimum fuss!
