Jordan Shaver ’16: Panhellenic Secretary

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at WVWC chapter.

For many, the most important thing in life is family. This is no different for Sophomore Jordan Shaver, a local from Buckhannon who chose Wesleyan because it was close to home.

“I could visit my family a lot,” Shaver said. “It made me feel welcome, and I was comfortable on campus because of it.”

Shaver feels just as comfortable in her major. She gushes about Wesleyan’s exercise science department. After finishing her studies at Wesleyan, she says she hopes to either be accepted into a physical therapy program to earn her doctorate or be accepted into a physician’s assistant program. Until then, she continues to be involved with life at Wesleyan.

Out of her many campus activities, Shaver cites her Greek family as one of the most important. She encourages others to go Greek as well.

“Girls should go Greek because the Greek society allows such growth,” Shaver said. “Being a member of the Greek community helps a person become a leader.”

Shaver can attest to this benefit, as she acts as the Delta coordinator for Alpha Gamma Delta and the secretary for Panhellenic council. It is again that aspect of hominess that Shaver loves most about Greek life.

“Going through recruitment helps girls find a home and a group of friends, or sisters, to go to throughout their college years and forever,” Shaver said. “It helps you to truly feel at home during college.”

It is accurate to say that Shaver has truly made Wesleyan her home among the hills.
